Victory Baked Apple Rolls

Ingredients

Apple Layer:
3-4 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1/4 cup sugar

Dough :
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons shortening
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter

Cinnamon Sauce:
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups water

Directions:

For Apple Layer:
Combine apples and sugar; set aside.

For Dough:
Mix first 4 ingredients till crumbly; add milk (add more milk or flour to get roll-out consistency). Roll out on floured board. Spread with Apple Layer, dot with butter, and roll jellyroll-style; cut into rolls.

For Cinnamon Sauce:
Bring ingredients to a boil, and pour into 9x13-inch pan. Place cut rolls in hot Sauce. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.
