Aunt Tammi's Scalloped Potatoes

5 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese or cheddar cheese


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Layer potatoes in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Sprinkle salt over potatoes.

In a bowl, mix butter and onion powder.Whisk in flour and milk. Pour over potatoes and stir. Bake 60 minutes. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle cheese on top. Bake an additional 5–10 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted. Makes 8–10 servings.
