Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

1 (7-ounce) package elbow macaroni
6 tablespoons butter, divided
3 tablespoons flour
2 1/2 cups milk (can use part canned milk)
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
3 cups grated Cheddar cheese, divided
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup dry bread crumbs

Directions:

Cook macaroni until tender, as directed on package. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in saucepan. Stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add cream cheese, 2 cups Cheddar cheese, salt and pepper. Stir over low heat until cheeses are melted and mixture is smooth. Drain and rinse macaroni and mix cheese mixture into macaroni. Transfer to a greased casserole dish or 9x13-inch pan. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup Cheddar cheese on top. Melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter and add bread crumbs. Spread on top of cheese. Bake uncovered at 400° for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
