Berry Bog Oatmeal

Ingredients

1 cup steel-cut oats, uncooked
1 cup sweetened, dried cranberries
1 cup chopped dates
4 cups water
1/2 cup half-and-half
2 tablespoons honey

Directions:

Combine oats, cranberries, dates and water in a greased slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 8 hours. Stir in half-and-half and honey; warm through.

Tip: Turn cast-off cabinet doors, a salvaged mirror or old window into a handy kitchen blackboard. Coat any flat surface with chalkboard paint; let dry, then recoat. A lighthearted way to let everyone know what’s for dinner!
