1/4 cup pepper jelly
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
3 cups dry roasted peanuts or cashews
2 cups dried tropical fruit mix
1 cup Crispix cereal or chow mein noodles


Heat first 4 ingredients in large saucepan over low heat. When jelly is melted, stir in remaining ingredients until well coated. Pour into roasting pan. Bake in 300° oven 30 minutes, stirring once. Cool; store tightly covered. Put in zipper bag to go in backpacks.
