Fried Apples

Ingredients

unpeeled, firm apple, cored and sliced into 1/4-inch wedges (enough to fill a large skillet)
enough shortening put in skillet to cover the bottom
a bit of butter or margarine to enhance flavor
brown sugar or granulated sugar to taste
1/2 cup of maple syrup
cinnamon or cardamon

Directions:

Core and slice into 1/4-inch wedges, unpeeled, firm apples (enough to fill a large skillet). Put enough shortening in skillet to cover the bottom. Add a bit of butter or margarine to enhance the flavor. Toss apples in pan until they are well coated and allow to cook, but not get mushy. Add brown or granulated sugar to taste and 1/2 cup maple syrup. After apples are cooked, sprinkle with cinnamon or cardamon.
