Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter real
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk

Directions:

In a small bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt set aside.

In a large mixer bowl at high speed beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. On low speed beat in flour mixture in three additions alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour mixture. Divide dough into fourths wrap each portion in foil and chill.

Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease baking sheets. On a well floured surface roll one portion of dough at a time to 1/8 -inch thickness. Cut with various shaped cookie cutters. Place on baking sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned on edges. Cool cookies on wire racks. Decorate as desired.

(Note: This recipe in Cookie Decorating Made Easy has the exact ingredients. However, the instructions say to bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 375° oven. Yield is about 3 dozen cookies. Cookie Decorating Made easy also includes a variation for Chocolate Sugar Cookies: Add 1/2 cup sifted unsweetened cocoa powder to stirred dry ingredients. Mix and bake as directed..)
