Have Ready:
2 grapefruit
4 teaspoons sugar
4 red maraschino cherries
You'll Need:
Cutting board
Sharp knife
Serrated grapefruit knife (curved)
Measuring spoons
4 small plates
Place the grapefruit on a cutting board. With the sharp knife, cut each grapefruit in half. With the serrated knife, cut around each section of fruit, loosening it so it can be eaten with a spoon. Be careful! Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sugar on each half (or more to taste), and decorate with a cherry in the center. Place on plates and refrigerate until ready to serve as the first course of the brunch.
Just Between Us: Perhaps you would like to sprinkle the grapefruit halves with brown sugar instead, and put them in the oven under the broiling unit just long enough to melt the sugar? Do this just before serving.
