Broccoli-Cheese Soup

1 (10-ounce) package frozen broccoli, chopped
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can chicken broth
2 teaspoons or 2 cubes chicken bouillon
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 pepper to taste
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons cornstarch (with enough milk to dissolve)
2 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese ( or Velveeta)


Boil first 5 ingredients until barely tender. Purée in blender for about 3 seconds. Add pepper. Return to heat. Add milk, butter, and cornstarch mixture. Blend and stir until hot. Add cheese. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Do not boil.
