Goldenrod Eggs


Serves: 4

Ingredients

5 to 6 eggs, hard-boiled, peeled and halved
6 tablespoons butter or sausage drippings
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 3/4 cups to 3 c. milk
salt and pepper to taste
toast or split biscuits

Directions:

Place egg yolks in a small bowl; mash and set aside. Chop whites and set aside. Place butter or drippings in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat; whisk in flour. Slowly pour in milk until desired consistency is achieved. Continue to heat through until mixture thickens. Stir in egg whites; season with salt and pepper as desired. Spoon over toast or biscuits. Sprinkle mashed egg yolks over each serving.


Turn a muffin tin into a terrific candy cup. Give it a fresh look with a light coat of snowy white spray paint, and when thoroughly dry, place paper liners in each cup. Filled with candies, these dressed-up muffin tins also make thoughtful hostess gifts.
