Chocolate-Cherry Bars

Ingredients

1 (18-1/4 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup milk
5 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 (6-ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

With an electric mixer on medium speed, beat together cake mix, pie filling, almond extract and eggs in a large bowl. Spread into a greased and floured 15"x10" jelly-roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Remove from oven and set aside. Combine sugar, milk, margarine or butter in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil for one minute. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Pour and spread over warm bars; cool completely. Cut into bars.
