Place garlic, parsley, vinegar, mustard, and the egg into the bowl of a food processor. Mix well. With the processor running, add the vegetable oil in a slow, steady stream and process until smooth and thickened.
Stop the machine for a minute to add the basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Process briefly until blended. Taste and correct the seasoning as needed. To serve, spoon over a mixed garden salad and enjoy!
