Creamy Oyster Stew

Serves: 5
Total Calories: 624


1 quart oyster, reserve 2 cups liquor
1/2 stick butter
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon celery salt


Bring 1 cup reserved liquor to a boil for 5 minutes, then skim away foam. Add butter, cream, pepper, and celery salt. Stir until well blended, then remove from heat; set aside.

Heat remaining liquor with oysters just until edges of oysters curl, about 5 minutes. Drain, and add oysters to cream mixture. Heat almost to a boil, and serve steaming hot. May garnish with paprika, if desired.
