Apple Pound Cake

Ingredients

4 tart apples peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup strawberry jelly melted
2 tablespoons toasted slivered almonds

Directions:

Toss first 3 ingredients together. Preheat oven to 350. Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a bowl with electric mixer at high speed for 3 minutes or until very light and fluffy. Stir in dry ingredients and sour cream. Beat until batter is smooth. Pour into greased 9x9 pan. Arrange apple slices on top. Bake for 1 hour or until top springs back when lightly pressed with fingertip. Cool in pan. Brush with melted jelly sprinkle with nuts.
