If you've opened Cook'n on your iPhone lately, you may have noticed that Discover looks a little different.

Okay...maybe more than a little. 😊

Last week, we released an update with a new My Recipes View...but we're just getting warmed up! The Cook'n Elves have been hard at work giving Discover a fresh new look too.

But this wasn't about changing things just for the sake of changing them. Every adjustment had a purpose:

Help you find something delicious faster...and make the journey a whole lot more enjoyable!

Let the food do the talking!

One of the first things you'll notice is the bigger, more prominent recipe photos.

And WOW...what a difference!

Those beautiful food photos practically pop right off the phone! After all, when you're trying to decide what's for dinner, a mouthwatering photo can say a whole lot more than a bunch of buttons and text.

So, we simplified the screen, reduced some of the visual clutter, and gave the recipes themselves more room to shine.

The result is a Discover view that feels cleaner, fresher, and more modern...but, more importantly, makes browsing recipes a whole lot more fun!

Easier to browse. Easier to explore.

We also redesigned the section headings to create a cleaner visual hierarchy.

Recently Made. Captured Just Now. Trending Captures. Cook'n A.I. Recommends. Live Recipe Feed.

Each section is now clearly identified without competing with the recipes for your attention. And the new See all buttons are bigger, more prominent, and easier to tap whenever something catches your eye and you want to explore more.

We even changed something as simple as the recipe description text. In the old Discover view, descriptions were displayed in italics. They looked nice, but when you're scrolling through lots of recipes, regular text is easier to read and scan quickly. So, we removed the italics and switched to clean, easy-to-read text that lets you absorb the important details at a glance.

It's a small change, but that's exactly the kind of detail we've been focusing on lately.

Sometimes making an app better isn't about adding another big feature. Sometimes it's about looking at something you've used a thousand times and asking:

"Could this be easier? Could this be clearer? Could this be more enjoyable?"

Now you see it...now you don't!

Here's another improvement you might not notice right away.

The Search Internet Recipes bar at the top of Discover now gets out of your way when you start scrolling down.

Why?

Because once you're browsing all those delicious recipes, we want to give you as much screen real estate as possible!

But start scrolling back toward the top and...poof!...the search bar immediately reappears, ready when you need it.

It's one of those little touches that you may not consciously think about while you're using Cook'n. You just notice that the app feels better.

And that's exactly the point.

Same Cook'n. A whole lot more polished.

As we've been updating Cook'n, we've been trying to strike an important balance.

We want Cook'n to feel modern, fresh, polished, and professional, while still feeling like the Cook'n you know and love.

And we don't want to make changes merely because something looks cooler. If we're going to change something, we want the end result to make Cook'n more useful and easier to use.

That's why we're particularly excited about this Discover update. Put the old and new versions side by side and you'll see lots of visual differences. But use the new version for a while and we think you'll notice something even more important:

The interface fades into the background...and the FOOD takes center stage! 😋

That's exactly what we wanted.

In fact, that's one of the signs of really good design. The app itself shouldn't be constantly demanding your attention. It should quietly get out of the way and help you focus on what you came for.

In Discover, that means amazing recipes, beautiful food, and hopefully a little inspiration for dinner tonight.

And the Elves aren't finished yet...

We've also heard some opinions about our new blue accent color.

And when we say "opinions," we mean OPINIONS! 😂

So, naturally, we experimented with some other colors. And we discovered something interesting: lots of people preferred a different color...but they didn't all prefer the same different color!

One person's favorite was another person's "No way!" 😊

So we came up with a better solution.

In an upcoming release, we're planning to change the default accent to a beautiful Warm Red...AND we're adding an option in My Account that will let YOU choose the color you like best!

After all, it's your Cook'n.

So stay tuned. The Cook'n Elves have plenty more up their sleeves!
