Weekly shopping tips:

  • Several ingredients are common throughout this week's menu, so buy in bulk!
    • Buy about 5-6 Hass Avocados
    • Buy about 8 Peaches
    • Buy one pack of bacon (use bacon instead of prosciutto to save money), or if watching weight use turkey bacon, or sliced ham
    • When picking peaches, look for a fresh peach scent, telling you its ripe, you also want the peach to be slightly soft, again not hard, not mushy, and avoid peaches that are too green.
    • To find a ripe avocado, look for an avocado that is a little soft, not rock hard, not mushy.

Monday

Dovetailing Tips:

  • Your using one flour tortilla in your soup tonight, save the rest of the tortillas for fajitas on Wed.
  • Save 2 peaches for salad on Thursday and chop the remaining fresh peaches and make your chunky peach popsicles that are for dessert on Wed.

Tuesday

Dovetailing Tips:

  • Extra strawberries will be used for balsamic strawberries on Thursday.
  • To keep fresh strawberries from growing mold mix 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water, add berries, swirl and drain. The vinegar will kill the mold spores.

Wednesday

Dovetailing Tips:

  • Enjoy those peach popsicles you made on Monday!

Thursday

Dovetailing Tips:

  • Use bacon in place of prosciutto, or omit if you prefer.
  • Also instead of gorgonzola you could use feta, or whatever cheese you already have!

Friday

Dovetailing Tips:

  • Instead of Prosciutto in the meatloaf, which can be a bit more expensive, just use 2 slices of bacon
