5-Hour Stew

Serves: 8

2 pounds stew meat
1 cup chopped celery
1 pinch salt
pepper to taste
basil to taste
parsley to taste
1 tablespoon sugar
4 or 5 carrots, sliced
3 or 4 potatoes, cubed
1 quart stewed tomatoes
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 cup minute tapioca


Dredge meat in flour. Mix all together in a large casserole. Cover and bake 5 hours at 250°. (I have baked 6–8 hours at 200°, and it was great.)
