Yield: 24 twists

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 teaspoon each, crushed: basil, oregano, and marjoram
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (16-ounce) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Directions:

In a small bowl, combine butter, basil, oregano, marjoram, and garlic powder; set aside. On a lightly floured surface, roll bread dough into a 12-inch square.

Spread butter mixture evenly over dough and sprinkle with cheese. Fold dough into thirds. With a sharp knife, cut dough crosswise into 20 (4 1/2-inch) strips. Twist each strip twice and pinch ends to seal. Place about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Cover, let rise in a warm place until almost double, about 30 minutes.

Combine egg and water. Brush each twist and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 375° for 10–12 minutes or until golden.
