Whole Wheat Bars

1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons mexican vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 1/2 cups oats
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup nuts, optional


Mix together all ingredients and spread into a greased 10"x15"x1" pan. Bake at 350ยบ for 20 minutes. Do not over bake. Let cool and cut into bars.
