waxed paper
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon cloves whole
1 tablespoon allspice whole
8" x 8" piece cheesecloth

Directions:

Instructions:

Place the cinnamon stick between several thicknesses of waxed paper on a cutting board. With a wooden mallet or edge of a rolling pin, coarsely crush. Place cinnamon, bay leaf, cloves and allspice in the center of the cheesecloth. Bring corners together and tie with a string. Include directions for use.

To Use: Place the bag in a saucepan with 1 quart of water. Over high heat, bring to a boil reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered or partially covered. Add more water if needed. Store, covered, in the refrigerator. Reheat as desired. The fragrance given off while the mixture heats will perfume the air. The liquid is not a beverage and is not intended for drinking.

Packaging Suggestions: Wrap your potpourri in a cloth napkin, tuck into a purchased basket and tie with a ribbon. Decorate the basket by weaving two lengths of ribbon through it and attaching two bows to the sides with floral wire as shown in the photo. Then attach the Lemon Rose to the napkin with floral wire, glue or a needle and thread. Attach the Counted Cross-Stitch Gift Embellishment as an enclosure or basket decoration.
