How did this drink get its name?

QUESTION: We recently went out to dinner and our kids wanted a ‘Fancy Drink’ – the waiter suggested a ‘Shirley Temple’. How did this drink get its name?

ANSWER: Who was sweeter than that darling actress Shirley Temple? The 1930s child star earned her namesake drink while out to dinner with her parents. Jealous of the grown-ups ‘old-fashioneds’, Shirley pulled a few strings with the bartender and got them to mix this mocktail of ginger ale (or club soda) and grenadine syrup. As you found out while dining with your family, the ‘Shirley Temple’ is just a popular today as it was in the 1930’s! Enjoy one this summer!
