Easy to make Apple Crisp is perfect for any occasion.
|4 cups||granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced|
|4 cups||braeburn or pinova apples, peeled, cored and sliced|
|3/4 cup||brown sugar|
|1/3 cup||whole wheat pastry flour or all-purpose flour|
|2 teaspoons||cinnamon, ground|
|1/2 teaspoon||pure vanilla extract|
|1||whole lemon, juiced|
|1 1/2 cup||whole wheat pastry flour or all-purpose flour|
|1 cup||walnuts, chopped|
|1 cup||brown sugar|
|1/2 cup||granulated sugar|
|1/2 teaspoon||sea salt|
|14 tablespoons||butter, cold and sliced into 1 tablespoon pieces|
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl combine both types of apples, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup flour, cinnamon, vanilla and lemon juice. Mix until well combined and apples are evenly coated.
Spread apples evenly into the bottom of a 9"x13" pan.
In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment combine 1 1/2 cups flour, oatmeal, walnuts, brown sugar, granulated sugar and sea salt.
Add butter on low speed one tablespoon at a time until mixture becomes crumbly and butter is no longer visible.
Cover apples with crumb mixture and bake for 1 hour until lightly brown.
