Skillet Cabbage

Ingredients

2 slices bacon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
2 tablespoons water
1 dash of pepper
2 cups coarsely grated cabbage
1 cup chopped unpeeled apple

Directions:

In a medium skillet, cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving one tablespoon grease in skillet. Set bacon aside; crumble. Stir in sugar, vinegar, caraway, water, and pepper; mix well. Stir in cabbage and apples. Cover; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally. For crisp cabbage, cook 15 minutes. For tender cabbage, cook 25 minutes. Stir in bacon.
