Wet Bottom Shoo Fly Pie

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup molasses
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup boiling water
1 deep 9-inch pie shell

Directions:

Mix flour, sugar, and shortening until crumbly. Save 1?2 cup for the top. Mix remaining crumbs with molasses, egg, and soda dissolved in water. Pour this mixture into unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle crumbs on top. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. This makes a very wet bottom pie.
