"They Have Made My Job Easier"
I love hearing from Cook’n users who discover a feature that suddenly makes a job they’ve been putting off a whole lot easier.
Francis recently posted this in the Cook’n Forum:
“Thank you for the Magic Scan. I used it for the first time today & I was really impressed with how it captured the recipe. Thanks for something I didn’t know I needed.”
I told Francis that “something I didn’t know I needed” might be one of my favorite descriptions of Magic Scan yet! 😂
We created Magic Scan to make it ridiculously easy to get recipes into Cook’n, especially recipes from cookbooks, recipe cards, magazines, screenshots, and all those other places where great recipes tend to hide.
But then Francis came back with an update that I liked even more:
“I am digitizing a Taste of Home Cookbook; this makes it much easier. I didn’t know that the elves would add missing directions. I had a recipe, and the last few steps were on another page. I was planning to add the steps, but the elves added them for me. As mentioned in my last posting regarding Magic Scan, they have made my job easier.”
Now THAT made me smile!
Francis had scanned a recipe, but the last few steps were on another page. Even though those directions weren’t included in the scan, the Cook’n elves recognized that something was missing and filled in the missing steps based on the rest of the recipe.
Pretty cool!
Of course, whenever the elves fill in missing information like this, it’s always a good idea to give the finished recipe a quick review. They’re clever little elves, but they don’t have the original cookbook sitting in front of them! 😊
But this is exactly what Magic Scan is all about. Instead of sitting at the computer typing recipe after recipe from an old cookbook, you can take pictures of the pages and let the elves do the heavy lifting.
So, if you’ve got a favorite cookbook, a box full of old family recipe cards, or a stack of recipes you’ve been meaning to get into Cook’n someday, maybe it’s time to put Magic Scan to work.
You might just discover, like Francis did, that it’s “something you didn’t know you needed!”
