Paradise Dessert

This dessert to die for is inspired by memory. I am writing this sitting in the same place I had this last. I am sitting in a condo surrounded by trees, in the mountains. Just today I saw a moose, a bull elk (along with a herd), and a deer with three babies. I am in Jackson Hole!

It's absolutely beautiful up here. If you have never been, picture a paradise. I'm sure many of you are at least familiar with the similar habitat. Woods, wonderful pine air, wildlife everywhere. It's a great place to be.

And the best part is that's not it. We're headed to Yellowstone tomorrow to see beautiful rainbow colored hot springs and geysers while hopefully spotting some bison on the way (and I'm hoping and praying to see a bear!)

Why do I tell you all of this? I'm sure most of you don't really care where I am as I write these articles. I guess one of the reasons is I want to encourage you to create memories.

Jackson Hole was my family's go-to vacation spot growing up. I have so many memories here with my family. Building those memories built family relationships. It created good times and helped us grow closer.

You don't have to take a vacation to build those memories, although that is a great way to get away from normal routine and focus on each other. Try finding some wholesome activities you all can do together so that you can focus on each other, and so that you can grow as a unit in society. It will be worth it.

So what about that dessert memory? What is this yummy stuff I am writing about? To tell you the truth, it's not necessarily a NEW dessert, it's just put together differently. It's made into a gorgeous sunflower. We had it for a birthday cake here in Jackson Hole years ago. It was a great one to do on a vacation because it was so easy. That makes it great for anywhere, doesn't it?

To create your sunflower:

  1. Bake a chocolate cake in a round cake pan (boxed cake works perfect!)
  2. Frost the cake with chocolate frosting.
  3. Completely cover the cake with chocolate sprinkles or chocolate chips. It gives the cake artistic texture and makes it look more like a sunflower.
  4. Surround it with the beloved treat we all know, the Twinkie. (Luckily hostess bounced back, we would have been so sad if we couldn't make this cake with a Twinkie!) The picture I used shows Peeps being used. I thought that was pretty, too. However, I personally probably prefer a Twinkie (and the Twinkies would just sit on a plate around the cake.)

Use it as a birthday cake, a centerpiece, or for an end of summer party. You could probably make a pink flower with the pink hostess Zingers if you would prefer.
