October Cookbook Reviews

By Sharon Ng

In case you missed it last month, you had not one but two Gooseberry Patch books to choose from! Here are reviews on each book so you can decide which is best, or if you just can't decide, choose both!

The first GP book is Our Favorite Kid-Friendly Recipes. This book features over 60 recipes for the kids in your life, or for the children at heart! I know that waking up to a banana split breakfast, complete with crunchy cereal topping and yogurt and berries, would bring some sunshine to my day! Other kid-friendly recipes include Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole, or Sunny Lemonade Salad. Soups, salads, breakfast, desserts, this cookbook has tons of options for making kids smile! This book has cute illustrations, and is perfect for inserting your own photographs for each recipe.

The second featured book is 101 Homestyle Favorites. 101 recipes that will warm your hearts and tummies through the cold part of the year (and the warm parts too). With recipes like Veggie Patch Stew, 4 Cheese Mac and Cheese, Country Skillet Apples, and Sweet Ambrosia salad, this book has so many options. From salads and soups to main dishes, and tempting desserts, it has it all. If that wasn't enough, every recipe includes a drool-worthy photo.
