Ingredients

1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup light brown sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick butter
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (9-inch) pie crust

Directions:

Mix all but the pecans together until smooth, then add pecans. Pour into an unbaked pie shell. Cook at 350° for 50–60 minutes.

Brushing pie crust with milk or egg wash before baking adds a nice rich color to a pie. To give it even more shine, thin two tablespoons light corn syrup with hot water. After the pie is baked, brush the thinned syrup over the crust. You can further give it sparkle by sprinkling some sugar—colored, if you like—over the top. Put pie back in oven for two minutes to let glaze dry and set.
