Jack Vahe's Ultimate Cornbread

1 (15-ounce) can cream style corn
8 ounces sour cream
1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar or try 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs, beaten

1 handful onion, chopped fine
1/4 pound diced Monterey Jack cheese
1 (4-ounce) can diced green chili


Combine dry ingredients in one bowl and mix well. In another bowl mix the wet ingredients and blend well by hand or with a wire whisk. Add the two together and stir well. Mix in optional items at this point, if desired. Pour into a well greased 10-inch Dutch oven and bake for 30-35 minutes with 3-4 briquets underneath and 14-16 on top. Give the DO a quarter turn every ten minutes to evenly brown the bottom. Serve with honey butter.
