In an 8-inch non-stick skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter or margarine. Add 1/2 cup (about 2 oz.) whole, slivered or sliced almonds. Stir for 4 minutes or until golden and foam subsides. Spread in a jelly roll pan to cool.
