Savory Mushroom Soup

12 ounces mushrooms, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons garlic, minced
1 leek with green portion chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2 (14-ounce) cans chicken broth
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 cups half and half
pepper and salt to taste


Sauté mushrooms, garlic, leek, onion, celery, and bay leaf in butter until soft. Stir in flour; when hot, slowly add the broth and lemon juice. Simmer 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf, stir in cream, reheat, adjust the seasonings, and serve.
