Apple Dapple

2 eggs
2 cups white sugar
1 cup oil
3 cups all-purpose flour (scant)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups chopped apples
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
chopped nuts (optional)

1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine


Mix together eggs, sugar, oil, and flour, salt, and soda that have been sifted together. Add chopped apples, vanilla, and nuts. Mix batter well and pour into a greased 9x13-inch cake pan. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until done.

For Icing:
Combine sugar, milk, and butter, and cook mixture 21?2 minutes. Stir a little after removing from stove, but do not beat. Dribble over cake while cake is still hot. A few chopped nuts may be sprinkled over icing.
