Kitchen Remedy: Never Burn your Tin Foil Dinner Again

Serves: 5

I have an amazing mother in law. She raised seven boys and two girls. Enough said, right? In my book, that is enough to earn her Mother of the Century award. She encouraged each of her seven boys to earn their Eagle Scout award and they all did just that (my cute hubby is the one on the bottom right). They each inherited their father's spirit of adventure and as a result my mother in law has learned a lot about anything related to the outdoors.

I, on the other hand, know next to nothing about the outdoors. I think I can count the times my family and I went camping on one hand. I much prefer booking a hotel for the night. The first time my husband and I went camping I packed half the house and my husband looked at me with bewilderment. I've learned a few things about camping since then.

However, I still needed my mother in law's expert advice for this article. I asked her if she had any tips to making the perfect tin foil dinner. She said she learned a trick way back when her boys were young and has used it ever since. She claims this one tip will ensure your tin foil dinner will never burn again. So instead of scraping charred food from your aluminum foil, follow this one simple trick and enjoy a perfectly cooked tin foil dinner every time.

What you'll need:

  • 2 layers of heavy duty aluminum foil

  • 1 layer of a brown paper grocery bag

  • Trick:
Cut out a single layer of the brown paper grocery bag to match the size of your two pieces of aluminum foil. Place the layer of paper bag in between your two layers of aluminum foil. Wrap around your tin foil dinner and voila-your tin foil dinners will never burn again.
