Pinterest Worthy Angel Food Cake

The hardest part of making angel food cake is finding the pan! I use mine so infrequently that it’s always a hassle to dig out. Once that is found, you just let your mixer beat the batter, bake the cake and then prep the topping!

I have a friend who ate angel food cake frequently growing up, and their family just sliced the bare cake and then plated it with a dollop of cool whip and strawberries. I don’t doubt it tasted delicious, but making a tasty AND beautiful angel food cake is such an easy way to add a little beauty to your life and to your event!

I knew really pretty cakes were possible, but I didn’t know just how to style it to make it a real show stopper. So I went to Pinterest to look up pictures and ideas for how to make mine beautiful! I ended up combining several different ideas I sourced there to come up with this cake of my own. I think it’s pretty Pinterest worthy!

Here are 3 ideas for how to jazz up your angel food cake for the Fourth of July, or to make any regular summer night extraordinary!

  1. Leave a few berries whole with green stems ON! This adds just a bit of color and texture that liven things up!
  2. Dust with powdered sugar. This added step just takes your cake to the next level.
  3. Thicken your whipping cream with unflavored gelatin so it will stand a little firmer and hold its shape longer.

Good luck to you in your endeavors to make a Pinterest worthy angel food cake! It is so fun, comes together quickly and will definitely wow your friends and family!
