Simple {Free} Tricks for Better Lemonade

There is simply nothing better on a hot day to quench thirst like a classic glass of ice, cold lemonade. That's a fact! Things are really heating up this summer so here are a few tips to make your next batch of lemonade even better!

Tip 1: Use a Stand Mixer to Extract Lemons

To extract the most flavor out of lemons, use a stand mixer. And another great benefit it saves you time and manual effort, as opposed to using a hand juicer. You can get that great flavor because in addition to the stand mixer's paddle beating out the juice, it'll also pull out the lemon oils. This will give you lemonade that tastes even more vibrant and sunny!

Tip 2: For the Most Naturally Sweet Lemonade, Roast Your Lemons

Take halved lemons and roast them in the oven for 20 minutes. This will slowly draw out some of their natural sweetness and actually tone down some of the tartness, all at the same time! After the lemons cool down you are left with a rich, subtly sweet flavor that is ready for juicing. Depending on how sweet you like your lemonade, you might not even need to add sweetener at the end.

Tip 3: Add a Pinch of Salt

It seems you can add a pinch of salt to almost anything to really bring out the flavors, anything from a chocolate chip cookie to a fresh tomato out of the garden. Lemonade is no exception. Add just a pinch of salt to make the citrus taste more vibrant and less acidic. It will also balance out your sweetener of choice. But just remember that a little goes a long way! You don't need a lot to achieve this perfect balance.

Tip 4: Make a Lemony Syrup to Sweeten Lemonade

Another cool trick I read was if you don't have a stand mixer and you are juicing the lemons the regular way, take those used peels and bits, cover them with a generous coating of sugar, and refrigerate them. After time this creates a lemony syrup that you can then add to your lemonade to bring even more lemony flavor and sweeten at the same time. The sugar will have dissolved so you won't have to worry about the grainy sugar dissolving either. It's kind of like a lemon simple syrup.
