Texan Pitas

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1 envelope taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
1 (16-ounce) can refried beans
1 (10-ounce) can tomatoes with chilies, with liquid
1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
6 pita bread, halved
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
sliced jalapeño pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large frying pan, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Drain if necessary. Add taco seasoning, water, refried beans, tomatoes and green chiles, and cumin. Simmer over low heat 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon about 1/3 cup of the meat mixture into pita bread. Top with about 2 tablespoons cheese and a few jalapenos. Place filled pita halves in an ungreased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
