Ingredients

1 long loaf French bread
1/2 pound provolone or Muenster cheese, sliced thin
1 stick butter, softened
2 tablespoons grated onions
2 tablespoons Creole mustard
1/2 teaspoon cajun seasoning

Directions:

Cut Xs all over top of bread almost to bottom. Wrap foil halfway up sides of bread—don’t cover top. Fold cheese and stuff into X cuts. Combine remaining ingredients and spread on top. Place on baking pan on bottom rack of oven. Bake at 400° until cheese melts, 10–15 minutes. Serve by letting guests pull off chunks of cheesy bread.

Fun Fact: Fresh fruit is always welcome! It doesn’t need a recipe. Just cut melons, pineapple, strawberries . . . any fresh fruit . . . and serve! It can be separated in a lazy Susan with a dip in the middle, or with a small pitcher of poppy seed dressing alongside, or mixed together, or all by itself. If a friend asks what they can bring, say, "fresh fruit!" It goes with no matter what you are serving, and all your guests will love it.
