Fruit and Nut Granola

Ingredients

1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup honey
6 cups oatmeal, not quick-cooking
1 cup raw wheat germ
1 cup raw sunflower seed
1 cup chopped or sliced nuts
chopped dried fruit (optional)

Directions:

In a very large pot, heat oil and honey just until blended. Stir in remaining ingredients except for dried fruits. Spread out on 2 cookie sheets and bake in preheated 250° oven until golden brown, about 50–60 minutes. Remove from oven and separate grains by pressing with back of a wooden spoon. Cool. Dried fruits can be added at this point. Place in jars with tight-fitting lids and keep refrigerated. Can be frozen.
