Flathead Lake Monster Potatoes

Ingredients

2 pounds frozen hashbrown potatoes
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 stick butter, melted
1 cup cooked elk sausage or summer sausage (optional)
------------------------------
Topping:
2 cups crushed cornflakes
1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions:

Combine hashbrowns, soup, cheese, sour cream, onion, melted butter, and elk meat, if desired. Turn into greased 9x13-inch pan.

Topping:
Stir Topping ingredients together. Sprinkle over potato mixture. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. (May add 1/2 cup green or red bell pepper for added zest.)

The lake is one of the cleanest in the world for its size and type. The lake is inhabited by the native bull trout and cutthroat trout, as well as the non-native lake trout, yellow perch, and lake whitefish. It is also reportedly inhabited by the infamous Flathead Lake Monster.
