Why Does My iPad Download the Recipe Instead of Adding It to Cook'n?

This week's question comes from Maria Maglio:

"I love your newsletters, but why, when I click Add to Cook'n, it wants to download to my iPad Files instead of the program?"

Great question, Maria...and you're definitely not the only one who's asked!

When you're reading the Cook'n Newsletter on a desktop or laptop computer, clicking Add to Cook'n sends the recipe directly into your Cook'n app automatically.

On an iPad, iPhone, or other mobile device, however, your web browser handles recipe files differently. Instead of opening Cook'n automatically, it downloads the recipe file to your device. That's normal behavior.

The easiest way to save recipes on your mobile device is to use Cook'n's Capture feature:

  1. Open the recipe in your web browser.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Select Cook'n from the Share menu.
  4. Tap Capture.

That's it! Cook'n will capture the recipe and add it directly to your recipe collection.

In fact, Capture is often the better option because it works with recipes from almost any website, not just those featured in our newsletter.

Thanks for the great question, Maria! If you've ever wondered about something in Cook'n, send me a note. Your question might appear in a future Notes for Folks!

Happy Cook'n!
Dan
