Something I Didn't Know I Needed!

I love it when a Cook’n user discovers a feature and thinks, “Where has THIS been all my life?”

Francis Melan recently posted this in the Cook’n Forum:

“Thank you for the Magic Scan. I used it for the first time today & I was really impressed with how it captured the recipe. Thanks for something I didn’t know I needed.”

That last sentence made me smile. “Something I didn’t know I needed.” What a great way to describe Magic Scan!

Francis is working on digitizing a Taste of Home cookbook, and Magic Scan is making the job a whole lot easier. But then something happened that surprised even her.

She scanned a recipe where the last few steps of the directions continued onto another page. Francis knew those steps were missing and figured she would just add them herself afterward.

But the Cook’n Elves noticed too!

Francis came back to the Forum and wrote:

“I didn’t know that the elves would add missing directions. I had a recipe, and the last few steps were on another page. I was planning to add the steps, but the elves added them for me.”

Now THAT is Elf Magic!

Of course, you should always give a newly scanned recipe a quick review to make sure everything looks right. The Elves are pretty clever, but they aren’t perfect!

Still, Francis summed it up better than I could:

“They have made my job easier.”

And that is exactly what we’re trying to do.

There are recipes hiding everywhere: in old cookbooks, on recipe cards, in magazines, in screenshots, and in that stack of recipes you’ve been meaning to enter into Cook’n for the last 15 years.

Now, instead of typing them all in by hand, take a picture and let the Elves do the work!

Thanks for sharing your experience, Francis. And happy scanning!
