Paste Any Recipe into Cook’n — Elf Magic Does the Rest
There are already lots of great ways to get your favorite recipes into Cook’n. Tools like Scan-It, Capture, and Snip-It make it easy to bring in everything from handwritten family favorites to recipes found online.
And this week, that process just got even easier.
Before discovering Cook’n, many people save recipes in Word documents, Google Docs, notes apps, or emails. Getting those recipes from Word or a Google Doc into Cook'n just got a heck of a lot easier...like...Elf Magic easier!
Elf Magic is now built right into Snip-It clipboard imports.
Here’s how simple it is:
- Copy a recipe from anywhere
- Click the Snip-It button on the toolbar in Cook'n
- Click the "Copy recipe from clipboard" button
- Click the "Magic Scan" button
- Let the Elf Magic do the rest
Cook’n automatically scans the recipe, identifies the recipe name, ingredients, and directions...and then cleans everything up into a beautiful, usable recipe.
No manual formatting. No retyping. No wrestling with messy text.
Why this matters (a lot)
This feature is especially helpful if you:- Have recipes saved in Word or Google Docs
- Copy recipes from Kindle / EPUB cookbooks
- Receive recipes by email or text
- Are switching from another recipe app that doesn’t offer exports
- Copy recipes from PDFs, notes apps, or chat threads
- Even paste in recipes generated by AI and want them structured properly
If you can copy it…
Cook’n can turn it into a real recipe.
A little Elf Magic goes a long way
Behind the scenes, Elf Magic analyzes the pasted text and:- Separates ingredients from directions
- Fixes formatting issues
- Converts blocks of text into clean, readable steps
- Gets your recipe ready to cook — fast
It’s one of those features that feels small… until you use it once and realize how much time it saves.
Cook’n 16: and the train keeps rolling
If you haven’t upgraded to Cook’n 16 yet, you’re really missing out...and this is just the beginning. Cook’n is getting better and better and better… and we’ve got more cool new features coming soon. Stay tuned!
