3 Ways to Use Leftover Peeps

Whether you love or hate Peeps, you will love these two treats you can make out of them if you happen to end up with any leftovers coming up.

That’s not extremely likely around here--my kids are completely obsessed with anything marshmallow related, and of course especially with the brightly colored bunnies or chicks you can find this time of year. I’m sure you’ve realized that they are making Peeps pretty much year round for all the different holidays now. I’ve seen cute witches, zombies and cauldrons around Halloween and red and green ones around Christmas.

Any time of year that you find yourself with a package or two of Peeps, you should try one of these desserts.

Peeps Popcorn Balls

You can make delicious popcorn balls, or just make the big batch in a bowl and divvy it out into individual portions in a bowl to eat while watching a movie, like sticky caramel-type popcorn. This has always been such a big hit around our house and it is even more fun for the kids if it ends up being blue or pink, or whatever bright color you have lying around the house. Just be careful with mixing colors of packages or you might end up with a lovely shade of brown.

Peeps Rice Krispie Treats

If you are a fan of Rice Krispie treats, you will love making them with lovely bright pastel colors. You can even make multilayered treats with the different colors and for an extra colorful treat.

I saw a picture where someone made a layered treat with four or five of the colors, sliced through it in a tall rectangle, stuck a popsicle stick in it, and it looked like a rainbow popsicle.

Peeps S’mores

For just a couple random leftover peeps, you could definitely consider doing some simple S’mores with graham crackers, chocolate (or another candy bar) and a Peep instead of the traditional marshmallow.
