Dry Powdered Buttermilk

Hi Desi,

Linda from the forum here.

Have you ever used dry powdered buttermilk and does it work well?

I have been keeping it on hand, for baking, and never used it, lol.

Thanks,

Linda

Hi Linda,

Yes, I've used it and I thought it worked great. I liked to throw it in dry into my waffle or pancake batter with the flour. That way, I didn't need to mix it up separately with water and smooth it out. Just follow the conversions on the can to know how much to make as if you were going to mix it up, then throw the powder in with the dry ingredients; then just add the water part with the liquid ingredients.

I've also used it to culture my own buttermilk, which was a great way to extend the life of the dried stuff.

Hope this helps,
