1 (15-ounce) can garbanzo beans, half drained
2 tablespoons tahini paste (optional)
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 salt, pepper, and cayenne to taste

Blend all in blender or food processor.

Editor's Extra: Tahini is generally used in hummus, so do add some if you have it, but this is pretty good without it. Try throwing in several tablespoons sliced jalapeño to sub for the cayenne.

Fun Fact: Garbanzo beans, also known as chickpeas, are an excellent source of calcium, containing almost as much as milk, and equally as much as yogurt.
