Cream butter or margarine with brown and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats and chopped nuts. Halve cookie dough and pat each into a roll. Wrap each in waxed paper. Refrigerate until firm. Cut in thin slices. Bake at 350° 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
