Yield: 1 sandwich

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 slices onions (1/4 inch thick)
1/4 cup julienned red bell pepper
2 large mushrooms sliced
4 ounces thinly sliced very rare roast beef
dash garlic salt
2 slices provolone cheese
1 long Italian or French bread roll
1 tablespoon pizza sauce

Directions:

1. Cut 2 thick (1/4 inch) slices from a medium onion, then cut each slice in half and break apart.
2. Cut the pepper into julienne strips.
3. Slice the mushrooms.
4. Place the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, peppers, and onions, and cook 5 to 8 minutes or until soft. Add the roast beef and cook 1 minute while stirring frequently. Sprinkle with garlic salt.
5. With the spatula, push the ingredients together in the center of the pan. Place the provolone slices on top and cook another minute or until the cheese has melted. 6. Use the roll to scoop up the filling from the pan. 7. Top with pizza sauce and enjoy. Be careful, though . . . this sandwich is guaranteed to drip.

Important tip
If you’re making a traditional cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz , don’t add the cheese to the pan. Spread it inside the bun instead.
