Bacon and Cheese Pasta

Ingredients

1 (3-ounce) package ramen noodle (any flavor - save seasoning packet for use at another time) or use baked ramen or chukka soba noodles
1/4 cup shelf stable bacon
1/4 cup shelf stable Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon granulated, dried garlic
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 1/2 cups water

Directions:

AT HOME:
1. Combine bacon, cheese and seasonings in a snack size Ziploc bag.

2. Tuck ramen and oil packet inside; seal.

[If doing the recipe freezer bag style, pack the ramen in a qt freezer bag.]

AT CAMP:

Freezer bag method:
1. Bring water to a near boil and pour over ramen; seal tightly and put in a cozy for 5-10 minutes.

2. Drain off water; toss with oil and seasonings.

Insulated mug method:
1. Break up Ramen; add to mug.

2. Add boiling water; cover tightly 5-10 minutes.

3. Drain off water and toss with oil and seasonings.

One pot method:
1. Bring water to boil; add ramen.

2. Cook 3 minutes; drain water and toss with oil and seasonings.

Note: olive oil packets can be found online through www.minimus.biz or www.packitgourmet. com

Fun Fact: Suitable pitch refers to a good campsite location, with good drainage.
