Hamburger Buns

Ingredients

1/2 cup warm water
1 tablespoon yeast
1/2 cup milk, scalded
3 cups flour
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
sesame seeds

Directions:

Sprinkle yeast in warm water and let sit. Cool milk to luke warm. Add yeast, l 1/2 cups flour, shortening, egg, salt and sugar. Beat until smooth. Stir in remaining flour. Cover and let rest 15 minutes. Knead for 5 to 7 minutes on lightly floured surface. Add just enough flour to keep from sticking to hands. Divide into 12 parts. Shape into smooth ball. Place on greased baking sheet and flatten tops gently with fingertips. Cover and let rise until double. Brush with mixture of 1 beaten egg and 2 tablespoons water. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Bake at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 12.
