Ingredients

2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled, divided

1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 teaspoon orange liqueur (optional)

8 scoops vanilla ice cream

Directions:

Place half of the strawberries in a medium bowl.

In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, vinegar, orange zest and liqueur. Pour the liquid over the strawberries in the bowl, turning them to coat evenly. Allow to stand for 15 minutes. Strain, reserving the liquid.

Thread the coated strawberries onto skewers. Grill over Direct Medium Heat until lightly marked, 4 to 5 minutes, turning once halfway through grilling time. Allow to cool slightly. Puree the grilled strawberries along with the reserved liquid in a food processor.

Slice the remaining strawberries. Add the puree to the sliced berries. Pour strawberry mixture over the ice cream and serve.
